Karsten Cremer is a pharmaceutical scientist with over 19 years of industrial and academic experience in drug delivery. As a consultant to the pharmaceutical and biotech industries, he provides services based on his expertise in new technology development and evaluation. His core competence is in the areas of (1) Establishing technology platforms for novel drug carrier systems, (2) Implementing intellectual property strategies to protect drug delivery research outcome, (3) Transferring technologies from academia to industry, and from science to practice, (4) Developing strategies for the life cycle management of pharmaceutical products using drug delivery technologies. Karsten Cremer is particularly experienced in the fields of oral controlled release, orally disintegrating dosage forms, injectable sustained release systems, transmucosal delivery, gastroretentive devices, oral films and wafers.

Dr. Cremer is Founder and Principal of Pharma Concepts GmbH, a consulting company located in Basel (Switzerland). In previous appointments, he was Chief Executive Officer of Capsulution NanoScience AG (Berlin, Germany), a nanotechnology company co-founded by the Max-Planck-Society; Director of Oral Drug Delivery at the largest German drug delivery company, LTS Lohmann Therapy Systems (Andernach, Germany), and Lecturer of Pharmaceutics at the University of Marburg.

Karsten Cremer is also known for his activities in the International Association for Pharmaceutical Technology (APV), where he is Head of the Focus Group "Drug Delivery", and in the Controlled Release Society (CRS), where he is member of the Board of Scientific Advisors, and where he previously served as President of the German Chapter. In a leading journal for the German pharmaceutical industry, he publishes a monthly report on pharmaceutical innovations and patenting activities. Furthermore, he is author of about 190 patents and 20 book chapters, scientific publications and abstracts. He received several awards including the Redel Prize 1993 and the Carlo Erba Prize 1992 in oncology.
